Magic Card Trick: The Bottom Card

Goal: You are going to “guess” what the bottom card of the deck is without even looking at it (or at least that’s what your audience will think…)

  1. The first thing you need to do is look at the card on the bottom of the deck.
  2. Shuffle all the cards except the bottom one.  Make sure to leave this card on the bottom of the deck.  If you need to explain you can tell your audience that you “aren’t a very good shuffler.”
  3. Put the deck face down on the table
  4. Now name four numbers from the deck (ensure that the bottom card is one of the ones you call out.)  Have one of your audience members select two of the numbers.
  5. For Example: Let’s say that your bottom card is a six and you named a four, seven, six and a two.  They picked seven and two.  Say, “Ok pick out of the four and six.”  If they say “four,” then say, “ok then the bottom card is a four.”
  6. Next tell your audience to pick two of the four suites.  If your card is a four of spades and they pick hearts and diamonds, tell them to pick one out of the spades and clubs.  If they say spades, then say “ok the card should be a four of spades.”
  7. Now turn the deck over and amaze your audience!

Note: The object of the trick is get the person to pick the card on the bottom of the deck so make sure you lead them to the right numbers and suites.
